23.11.2023UNESCO document for the Codex Manesse

Since 18 May 2023, the Codex Manesse, the Great Heidelberg Song Manuscript, has been part of the UNESCO Memory of the World Documentary Heritage. The certificate for the award was presented to the university on 19 September 2023 by Prof. Maria Böhmer, President of the German UNESCO Commission, and Knut Zuchan, Head of the Multilateral Cultural Policy/UNESCO Unit at the Federal Foreign Office, at a ceremony in the Alte Aula. Since then, it has been kept in the Heidelberg University Library.

A digitised version of the document can be viewed via the attached link. A copy is exhibited in the display case on the 1st floor of the staircase of the Main Library together with the facsimile of the manuscript.
