Codices Heidelbergenses Orientales

This collection of Oriental manuscripts, including Persian manuscripts among others, comprises a total of 526 items. The manuscripts are catalogued through an alphabetical shelf catalogue, a location catalogue, and a language index, all of which can be consulted in the Manuscript Reading Room (LSH).

With the establishment of an in-house digitisation centre, Heidelberg University Library began in 2003 to gradually digitise parts of its valuable historical holdings. The Codices Heidelbergenses Orientales (Cod. Heid. Orient.) are predominantly digitised on demand.

Ein großer Teil der orientalischen Handschriften aus dem Bestand der UB Heidelberg ist seit Juni 2022 über die Datenbank der orientalischen Handschriftensammlungen in Deutschland Qalamos recherchierbar. Hier sind neben Signaturen, Autoren und Titeln auch die Vorbesitzer der Handschriften verzeichnet.
