Abstract

Translation of abstract (English)

The ability to learn wherever and whenever one would like using internet technology is known as e-learning. E-learning has the ability to become a solution in its own right, possibly even standing on equal footing with traditional learning environments such as face-to-face education and distance learning scenarios. With the spread of highly efficient personal computers and the widespread ability of people to access the internet, the e-learning industry senses an opportunity to develop a highly profitable business. However e-learning has not been able to live up to these expectations. Therefore, one of the central questions of this thesis explores the reasons why the concept of e-learning has not achieved acceptance as a viable alternative to more traditional learning environments. To answer this and other pertinent questions, the history, theory and qualitative aspects of e-learning are delved into from both a theoretical and practical point of view. Another aspect of e-learning this paper examines is how course content must be prepared and presented didactically for a student of a complex e-learning course to be able to synthesize learning material effectively. The answers discovered through thorough analysis yield exciting answers in a brand-new didactical e-learning concept that will be intriguing both for the scientific community as well as general educators who would like to develop an e-learning course. Four empirical e-learning studies are presented in the paper: - Development of e-learning courses at SAS Germany (blended learning) and the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg (part and full virtual courses) - E-learning survey (SAS Germany) - E-learning experts' study - Testing of 25 e-learning courses
