Printed Material published in the 16th and 17th Century in the German-Speaking Areas – VD 16

The Heidelberg University Library participates in the nationwide project to catalogue and digitize prints from the 16th and 17th centuries as part of the Verzeichnisse der im deutschen Sprachbereich erschienenen Drucke (VD 16 and VD 17), the retrospective national bibliographies of early modern printing in the German-speaking world. The digitized works cover a wide range of subjects and provide insights into the diverse production and circulation of books and knowledge in the early modern period. A particular focus is placed on copies held only in Heidelberg or for which no other library holdings are recorded.

All digitized titles can be searched in the VD 16 and VD 17 databases, where the bibliographic records are linked to the corresponding digital copies.
