Content The pool “Oman” documents the research campaigns in the Sultanate of Oman from 1980 to 1995. During this timeframe the German Mining Museum, later the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg continued fieldwork. Archaeological sites which range in date from the 3rd millennium B.C.E. to the 1st millennium C.E. comprise this corpus, which is under construction. Foreseen are:
  1. photos of the sites around the oases of Samad al-Shan and al-Maysar
  2. photos of the annual field campaigns
  3. drawings of finds including pottery
  4. photos of published finds including pottery

Characteristics / specifics AThe published excavation reports contain mostly black and white drawings of the finds. This archive depicts them in black and white as well as colour photos. The majority of the images relate to the Late Iron Age Samad Period. Many images show sites which have become historic as a result of settlement pressure.
