Digital Art Books by Request – Make a Wish!
For more than 70 years, Heidelberg University Library has maintained a collection focus on “Early Modern and Modern Art History up to 1945 and General Art Studies,” supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG). In addition to collecting a broad range of printed and electronic media, one of its key tasks is to provide online access to retro-digitized historical publications in this subject area.
Although the collection comprises more than 500,000 art historical resources, it is still possible that a specific title may be missing or has not yet been digitized. In such cases, you can now submit your request through our “Art Books by Request” service, and we will arrange for the acquisition or digitization of the volume free of charge.

Acquisition Request
If you were unable to find a required title in our HEIDI catalogue (HEIDI-OPAC), we would be pleased to receive your acquisition suggestion.
- If you have a library card from Heidelberg University Library, you can submit an acquisition request with the option to place a hold.
- If you do not have a library card from Heidelberg University Library, you can still submit an acquisition request with a notification option. We will inform you as soon as the book is available so that you can order it via interlibrary loan or Subito.

See also the information provided by the DDB. We would be happy to provide you with further information. - Other works, but only if copyright clearance has been obtained from both the author and the publisher.
We are happy to advise and support you with any questions regarding copyright clearance.
