Abstract

The poster sketches a media archaeological approach to the subject of art historical slide projection. As one of the most important tools in art historical education, slide projection was not only involved in producing but also in canonizing knowledge. By giving three examples of the first important German picture agencies (Bruno Meyer, Franz Stoedtner, E. A. Seemann), which all of them were specialized in Art History, specific research issues on the visual history of the academic field are identified.
