PHARNABAZUS
ONCE AGAIN*
In 1996, during the XII International Numismatic Congress in Berlin
I had the pleasure to present a paper on Pharnabazus' coin emission struck
in Cyzicus1. Before the end of the conference Shraga Qedar kindly passed
to me information about the existence of earlier unknown Samarian coins
with the name Pharnabazus. Later they were published in a new version of
the splendid monograph on Samarian coinage in the Achaemenid period
by the same Sh. Qedar and Y. Meshorer2. The exposure of these objects is

tunately because of the technical reasons it could be included in the present text to some limited extent. Some
points in the arhcle of F. MAFFRE seem to me controversial and I am going to discuss them elsewhere.
