Abstract

Translation of abstract (English)

The dissertation is about the question of Korean Modernization at the end of the 19th century. Until now this problem is unsolved and therefore delivers a very interesting area of research for Modernization. The West cant be made responsible for the Modernization in Korea, because at that time this country was annexed by Japan. This is a case, in which an industrialized non-western country affects a country, which isn’t industrialized. Out of this are coming following questions: Was Korea modernized by Japan? Was there an endogenous process in Korea? Was this process interrupted by Japanese Imperialism? Based on the Theory of Multiple Modernization I am discussing these questions.
