Sambada bhaskara (Calcutta, c. 1849-1854)

This newspaper first appeared as a weekly from March 1839 with Srinath Ray as its supposed editor. But Gourisankar Tarkabagis was actually responsible for its publication. From January 1848 this newspaper turned into a bi-weekly and into a tri-weekly from April 1849 and continued for a long time. News items and articles published on social and political issues are important for the political and cultural history of 19th century Bengal.
