Periodicals

Heidelberg University Library subscribed about 500 printed periodicals of the subject areas Medicine and Natural Sciences. On the ground floor you will find the issues of the current volumes (open shelves) and the last 10 bound volumes/years. These periodicals are not for loan, but self copying is available.
Earlier volumes are for loan and can be ordered via HEIDI from our closed stacks.

Heidelberg Electronic Document Delivery HEDD

Heidelberg EDD offers to all regular staff of Heidelberg University and of Heidelberg and Mannheim University Clinics electronic order and delivery of journal articles from their library holdings.

E-Journals

Heidelberg E-Journals is a collection of academic full text e-journals. Our e-journals are mostly online versions of current print subscriptions owned by any of the libraries on the Heidelberg Campus. Many titles are purchased through library consortia. Access via Electronic Journals Library Heidelberg or via our Online Catalogue HEIDI.

Access is in most cases possible both on campus and from off-campus workstations. Please note: Terms and conditions of publishers stipulate that off-campus access is reserved to authorized users students and staff of Heidelberg University and the University Hospitals.

Lending Services

The Loan Services on the third floor offer the following loan functions: registration for library account, immediate delivery of books, issue point for requested items from our closed stacks or requested by Interlibrary Loan, return of borrowed items, complaints etc.

Open stacks:

  • Textbook collection with books on Medicine, Natural Sciences, Earth Sciences and Biology
    Textbook collection by subject areas
  • Ca. 50.000 monographs on Medicine, Natural Sciences, Earth Sciences and Biology from the publication year 1975 onwards.

Books in the open stacks do not need to be requested online and may be accessed directly in the bookstacks. They will be entered on your library account at the exit of the borrowing area.
